Dog & Hooman Training

(becoming the hooman your dog needs you to be)

Welcome to the club! We understand how being a dog owner can be both exciting and challenging at the same time. Just like people, dogs have their own personalities and quirks too! Our goal is to help you navigate the world of dog ownership while addressing common behavior challenges.

Does your dog get overly excited and jump on guests?

Or perhaps they struggle to walk calmly on a leash?

Or maybe they tune you out when you're outside?

These are some of the common behaviors that many dog owners face. We're here to support you in overcoming issues like barking, pulling on the leash, not coming when called, and more.

And if you have a puppy, we can help you set them up for success right from the start! Early training is key to building good habits and preventing future behavioral issues. Whether you need guidance on potty training, helping your pup sleep soundly on their own, managing puppy biting, or channeling all that puppy energy in a positive way, we’ve got you covered. Our training will give you the tools and knowledge to raise a well-mannered, confident, and balanced dog from day one.

Common Behavior Problems
- Non-stop barking and/or whining
- Begging and/or stealing food
- Biting and mouthing (puppies)

- Marking and pee/poo accidents inside the home
- Picky eating

- Jumping
- Running in or out of doors, gates, fences, etc.
- Pulling on the leash

- Running away

- Stealing and/or guarding things at home

- Selective listening

- Chasing small objects / vehicles / animals

Training Philosophy

Our approach is all about helping you build a strong and healthy relationship with your dog, so that it shows whether you're at home or outdoors. We want to empower you with the basic understanding of your dog, the tools to communicate clearly and effectively, as well as how to move to understand each other better. Together, we will agree upon the goals of your dog’s training plan, which will form the foundation of the program.

We employ a balanced, holistic training approach that incorporates both positive and negative reinforcement to shape desired behaviors effectively. Rewards and training tools—such as training/ slip leashes, prong collars, and eCollars—may be incorporated based on our agreed upon training goals, as well as your dog’s history, age, temperament, drive, and learned behaviors.

Beyond specific techniques, our ultimate goal is to help you become a confident, reliable, and compassionate leader for your dog. Training is not just about commands—it’s about shaping behaviors, strengthening your bond, and creating a harmonious life with your dog.

What You'll Learn

Our approach is all about helping you build a strong and healthy relationship with your dog that extends beyond training sessions and into your everyday life. We aim to empower you with:

- A basic understanding of your dog’s personality, motivations, and natural instincts
- Knowledge of how dogs learn and communicate
- The ability to read and effectively communicate with your dog
- The right tools and routines for success
- Practical strategies for setting your dog up for long-term good behavior

What We Expect From You (The Owner)
Dog training is a journey, not an overnight fix. Whether you’re looking to teach basic obedience (sit-stay, down-stay, loose leash walk, etc.) or address specific challenges (coming when called, impulse control, etc), we’re here to guide you every step of the way. However, your active participation is key.

During our training sessions and even after the end of the formal training program, you must be fully present, attentive, and actively engaged—this is not a service where the trainer does all the work for you! Training is about you learning how to communicate with and lead your dog effectively. You will be expected to:

  • Apply the training techniques and principles discussed in our sessions

  • Complete assigned homework and make intentional changes to daily routines

  • Provide daily text and video updates on your progress

  • Stay patient, consistent, and committed to the process

Training doesn’t just happen in sessions—it’s about meaningful, intentional changes in your everyday life, from mealtime to walks, playtime, and rest. When you commit to this journey, we commit to guiding you toward success.
