Our Story
Sit and Stay was born out of a simple yet essential need: a safe, clean, and enriching space where pets are truly understood and cared for. We wanted a home away from home for our dogs and (now) cats—a place where they could stay comfortably while we handled errands, attended to emergencies, or traveled, without worry.
But not many places like this exist. Too often, pet facilities are designed with convenience and profit in mind, rather than the well-being of the pets themselves. Dogs slip on smooth floors, spend hours in crowded daycare spaces without structure, miss out on fresh air and sunlight, or develop unwanted behaviors due to a lack of thoughtful handling. Many are bathed in strong shampoos and colognes that overwhelm their senses, too.
At Sit and Stay, we do things differently. We pamper pets in a way that honors who they are. That’s why our logo is a snout—because a pet’s nose is their strongest sense, their way of exploring the world. Our approach is rooted in understanding and respecting their instincts, needs, and communication styles.
More than just a safe place for pets to stay, we want to help pet parents see the world from their pet’s perspective (or more accurately, smell the world through their noses). We believe that with a thoughtful and respectful approach, we can foster healthier, more fulfilling relationships between humans and their pets.
That’s why we chose the name Sit and Stay—two words widely used in training. Training is the foundation of a strong relationship with our pets, allowing us to communicate with them in a way they truly understand. It also saves lives! Many pet abandonment and common behavior issues—leash pulling, excessive barking, reactivity, and more—can be prevented and/or managed with a true understanding of our pets through training.
At Sit and Stay, we believe training is not just a one-time event but an ongoing process woven into everyday life. Our enrichment programs and structured care reflect this philosophy, ensuring that every guest leaves not just happy, but better equipped for life at home and beyond.
